EN: Toronto pianist David Potvin is currently in his final year of the Masters of Music in performance program at the University of Toronto, studying with professor Marietta Orlov. A Nova Scotia native, David completed his Bachelor of Music in performance at Acadia University in that province, under the tutelage of Ronald Tomarelli. During his time at Acadia, David was the pianist for the Acadia University Chorus, and was selected to perform twice at the Tom Reagan Memorial Concert, an annual showcase of faculty and select students. David’s recent recital performances include those in Wolfville and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and in Toronto. He has also performed chamber and solo repertoire as part of festivals in Halifax, Vermont, Southern France, and London, England. He has received recognition in multiple competitive festivals, and through the Royal Conservatory of Music. In 2012 he was a national finalist in the Canadian Music Competition where the jury described his performance as “sensitive, intelligent and compelling.” David is active in Toronto as piano teacher, and as a collaborative pianist, with a focus on Italian and English art songs. In his free time, he enjoys exploring Toronto, studying philosophy and watching soccer.
