EN: Born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canadian clarinetist David Scott is currently enrolled in the bachelor of music program with honors in performance at Western University. Having graduated from Bathurst High School in 2009, he has been nominated for a Chaleur Outstanding Youth Award in the category of performance, and is the recipient of the Bathurst High School Music Achievement Award, the Beth Lord Memorial Scholarship, the Robert A. Marsh Scholarship in Music, and is a three-time winner of the Bathurst Music Festival’s trophy for instrumental solo.

David has been a prominent member of the Western University and Mount Allison University Wind Ensembles, and has held principal positions in the Western University Symphony, Chamber, and Opera Orchestras, the London Youth Symphony, Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra, New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, the Long Island Youth Orchestra, second clarinet with the Scotia Festival Orchestra, and concert master of the National Youth Band of Canada. As an orchestral musicians he has performed internationally in Denmark, Iceland, Morocco, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and the United States. Most recently, he has toured Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, France, and Iceland.

With a keen interest for clarinet pedagogy, Scott currently teaches privately in person and via Skype. He is on teaching staff at the Academic Music School, and VIVA Camp, and was a faculty assistant at the Interprovincial Music Camp.

David has studied clarinet with Jean-Maurice Mallet and Wesley Ferreira, and currently studies with Dr. Jana Starling. Other esteemed clarinetists he has worked with include Shalom Bard, Jean-Guy Boisvert, Cecilia Kang, Christine Carter, Ross Edwards, Copper Ferreira, Micah Heilbrunn, Richard Hornsby, Graham Lord, James Mark, Marie Johnson, Michael Norsworthy, Lisa Oberlander, Jeff Reilly, Julien Smerdon, Eileen Walsh, and Anne Watson.
