Joseph Glaser, conductor
EN: Described as "a voice to watch out for" by CBC's Bill Richardson, Joseph Glaser is a young conductor with an omnivorous taste in music. Born in Montreal, he started studying music in Montreal's Royal West Band program and started composing soon after. Joseph developed an appetite for conducting by first conducting his own pieces with the Royal West Honour Band. Since then he has gone on the conduct the University of British Columbia Concert Winds, as well as various UBC chamber groups. While primarily a composer, Joseph has studied conducting under Jonathan Girard and Robert Taylor. Equally at home in both wind ensemble and orchestral repertoire, Joseph is a passionate advocate for new music as well as community music involvement.
Joseph is extremely pleased and excited to conduct the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival Orchestra this season. As a composer, Joseph has had his works performed by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Gryphon Trio, the Amici Chamber Ensemble and the UBC Contemporary Players among others.
