MAY 5 - 11, 2014
EN: After twelve years as a violinist, Riverview native Sarah de Niverville spontaneously picked up the viola at age seventeen and unknowingly found her true calling. Studying with Isabelle Fournier and Nadia Francavilla, she completed her Bachelor of Music in Performance on viola at the Université de Moncton in May 2012.
Sarah was a member of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra from 2004-2009, touring with the orchestra to Parma, Italy in 2005 and Beijing, China in 2007. She was also invited back to join the NBYO on the Musikfreunde Tour to Vienna, Austria in Summer 2011, where the orchestra won first place in the Symphony Orchestra category at the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival. Sarah was also one of six Canadian musicians chosen to play with the Long Island Youth Orchestra for their Summer 2009 tour through the Maritimes, Denmark, Norway and Iceland. From 2009 to 2013, Sarah served as principal violist of the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra. She was thrilled to be selected as a member of the 2013 National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and will be joining the NYOC for a second summer in 2014. Sarah also plays regularly with Symphony New Brunswick.
Always happy to share her love of classical music, Sarah is very excited to be a part of the second annual Bathurst Chamber Music Festival. Sarah will be moving to British Columbia in August 2014 to begin her Masters of Music in Performance at the University of Victoria, studying under Joanna Hood of the Lafayette String Quartet.
